Welcome to the Chopin Club

President's Message
"The object of this Club shall be to perform fine music, to encourage and develop a greater interest in music appreciation, and to assist our young artists, financially through scholarships, who intend to continue with their music." -- Constitution of the Chopin Club

The year 2010 is indeed one of celebration among members of the music community around the world, for it is the 200th anniversary of the birth of the beloved composer Frédéric Chopin, namesake of our organization.

Here at the Chopin Club, the second oldest music club in America, we are particularly thrilled. As we open our 132nd musical season, we present a special All-Chopin Concert at our musical home, the fabled Music Mansion, 88 Meeting Street, Providence, on Sunday, September 26th at 2:00 PM to celebrate this wonderful occasion. Barbara Speer, reviewed by the New York Times as an artist with "…compelling playing, excellent taste and poetic understanding…" will be our guest pianist.

The Concert will benefit the Scholarship Fund of the Chopin Club. For those of you who are not familiar with it, the mission of the Chopin Club, besides that of bringing beautiful music to Rhode Island and the surrounding community, is to raise money for worthy music students to continue their studies beyond high school. In the past, with our support, our scholarship recipients have attended some of the most prestigious music schools and conservatories on the continent, including the New England Conservatory, Oberlin College, McGill University, and the Manhattan School of Music, to name a few.

We suggest a donation of $25, or $10 for students, payable at the door or via our "Donate" page.  Your contributions are tax-deductible, and all proceeds from the concert go into our Scholarship Fund.  Seating will be reserved for advance donors.  If you contribute but cannot attend, please tell us so.

In a world filled so often with turmoil and uncertainty, the beauty of Chopin's music is a legacy for which we are truly grateful. All around the world, for nearly two centuries, people have been touched by Chopin’s music, which nourishes our inner beings, generates new friendships and refreshes old ones. We invite you to share in this glorious musical celebration of his Bicentennial year at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 26th and be a part of the joyous mission of the Chopin Club.
